Nik de Boer

Nik de Boer is Associate Professor of Constitutional Law at the Amsterdam Law School and serves on the editorial board of the European Constitutional Law Review.
He received his PhD with highest honours from the University of Amsterdam in 2018, earning the Dissertation Prize of the Dutch Association of Constitutional Law. His research focuses on EU constitutional law, financial law, the Economic and Monetary Union, and central banking. He has published in leading journals, including the Common Market Law Review and the Journal of Common Market Studies, and is the author of Judging European Democracy: The Role and Legitimacy of National Constitutional Courts in the EU (Oxford University Press, 2023).
De Boer gained policy experience at the European Court of Justice and the Dutch Permanent Representation to the UN in New York, and his research has been featured in outlets such as Le Monde, NRC Handelsblad, and El Economista. He also co-founded the University of Amsterdam’s Master in Law and Finance.
