Felipe González De León
Senior Economic Policy Analyst

Felipe González De León is a Senior Economic Policy Analyst at the European Macro Policy Network (EMPN). His work focuses on fiscal policy, European economic governance, and public finances, with particular expertise in pensions, labour markets, and fiscal frameworks.
Prior to joining EMPN, he served at the Spanish Ministry of Social Security as an Economic Advisor to the Minister and the Secretary of State, where he played a key role in the analysis, negotiation, and assessment of major reforms. In this role, he worked closely with national, European, and international institutions, contributing to discussions on fiscal sustainability, macroeconomic projections, and policy design.
Earlier in his career, he worked at the Central Bank of Malta in the Monetary Policy, Eurosystem, and International Relations Department, contributing to briefings for the Governor’s participation in international fora and monitoring global economic and policy developments. He has also worked as a researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and at Bloomberg, specializing in economics and FX.
Felipe holds a BA in Political Science and an MSc in Economics from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), as well as an MSc in Comparative Politics: Comparative Political Economy from the London School of Economics (LSE).
