Vinzenz Ziesemer is the founder and director of the Institute for Public Economics (IPE). Since its founding in 2022 with EMPN backing, IPE has quickly established itself as the leading non-governmental economics think tank in the Netherlands. Vinzenz also writes regularly for De Correspondent, where he contributes essays on public administration, fiscal policy, and the balance between markets and the state. Vinzenz is an Emergent Ventures Fellow (Cohort 34), a member of the Advisory Council of the Centre for Economy Studies, and an affiliated lecturer at Erasmus University College.
Before founding IPE, Vinzenz served at the Dutch Ministry of Finance, where he helped lead the Directorate for General Financial and Economic Policy. He advised the Minister of Finance on a wide range of issues — from fiscal policy and taxation to pensions and social security — and played a coordinating role during the COVID-19 crisis. Earlier in his career, he worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C., AlpInvest Partners, and Robeco Asset Management, gaining experience in macro-financial research, private equity, and quantitative investment strategies.
Vinzenz holds a PhD in Economics from the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence. He also studied econometrics, financial economics, economics, and philosophy of science at Erasmus University Rotterdam, and was a visiting student at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed the BKB Academie program on political campaigning and communications.
